The Challenge
Use user-based research to inform a digital redesign for Viva Big Bend, a music event held annually in Big Bend, Texas.
The existing website suffers from many user issues, including a lack of balance between information and digestible page layouts. The homepage has little text or chunking to separate information, and many resources are available only as images, rendering them unreadable by screen readers.
Our research began with performing. a content analysis of all the things the current website contained as well as any missing and necessary information. These chunks of content were then sorted multiple times by group members and other individuals to land on the most efficient and intuitive organization structure. That structure is reflected above in our Information Architecture.
One part of the research phase was creating User Personas. These snapshots are intended to capture the core characteristics and motivations of the main audiences who could potentially use the Viva Big Bend website. These personas include details like the person's digital competency, personal goals, income, and other demographics.
